This large painting of Diane Chasseresse is a work of a French School of the 18th century.
Very well composed, Diana, goddess of the hunt, of war and of the night in Roman mythology, occupies the center of the canvas with force.
She is characterized by her attributes which are the bow, the quiver, the hunting dog and the crescent moon which adorns her hairstyle. We find her in the environment that is dear to her, she liked indeed in the fields, in the woods and near the sources.
This painting, rich in detail, has a certain naivety which gives it a lot of charm. The forest and the woods are on the left with a hunting scene in which dogs and horsemen take part. On the right, a bridge spans a stream and gives a peaceful impression with swans and a boat. A city looms in the distance.
All this animation makes this painting very lively.
Lacks in places that do not spoil the work and do not interfere with its reading. Later restorations. Dimensions H 64 cm / W 144.5 cm
