Peasant Woman By Johann N. Gebhard (listed Austrian, 19th Century)

The romantic portrait of a peasant woman was executed by the mid-19th century Austrian portrait painter Johann Nepomuk Gebhard. Gebhard was born in Brno, studied there under Ferdinand Licht and later under Kreutzinger in Vienna.

Inscription: signed Johann Gebhardt and dated 1863, lower right. Old label with the painter's biography attached to the reverse
Technique: oil on canvas. . Gold plated frame.
Dimensions: unframed w 15" x 22 1/4" (38 x 56.5 cm), framed w 21 1/2" xh 28 1/2" (54.7 x 72.5 cm)
Condition: in good condition , lined, a small paint (ca.1 cm) on the pink skirt, several light cracks.
