Specialized in horse paintings, Karl Georg Arsenius represents a scene of racehorse training, painted on the spot, with spontaneity and dynamism. We are certainly in the vicinity of Chantilly. The technique is impressionistic, characterized by a soft palette, light colors. Diffused light bathes the scene.
Biography
Carl Georg Arsenius is a Swedish painter, active in France. He began his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm then continued in Paris in the studio of Jean Paul Laurens. Three years later, he left Sweden for good to live in Vineuil near Chantilly, he became a renowned animal painter. He exhibited successfully and received numerous awards. After the success of his canvas Retour de Longchamp and his Cheval d'omnibus, he quickly turned to horse paintings and became a renowned animal painter. it is frequented by the aristocracy, notably King Oscar II for whom he painted numerous equestrian portraits.
