"Silk Ghoum Rug Signed Nahmani, Circa 1970"
Ghoum carpet in exceptional and fine silk, dating from 1970 and signed Ghoum-Nahmani. It was made in the Imperial Workshop of the Shah of the Pahlavi dynasty. High knot density, ranging from 10,000 to 11,000 knots per dm2. The rug has a wool pile on a silk foundation, and is in good overall condition. The field is ivory in color, with scrollwork motifs of flowery palmettes in old gold, surrounded by serrated foliage. It has a central medallion inlaid with a floral crown in old gold, on a midnight blue background, framed by two symmetrically stylized oil lamp bulbs, as well as four spandrels recalling the central medallion. The three borders are abraded ruby color, with the signature of the weaver Master Ahmadi. Measurements: Length: 288 cm width: 195 cm
