Circular tortoise shell box. Its lid is decorated with a fine miniature in watercolor on pencil lines. Lovely intimate scene depicting four young women - probably four sisters of a family - on their knees praying in front of a statue of Saint Francis in an antique stone niche. All against a background of wooded landscape, very finely and delicately executed. A refined shape given by its curved thickness. It also benefits from a strapping also in tortoiseshell ensuring the maintenance of its original curved glass. Work of very high quality, of incredible finesse, from the end of the 18th century, beginning of the 19th century. More beautiful in reality than in the photos with delicate shades and color gradients. Gouache highlights. Dimensions: Diameter: 8.5 cm x 2.2 cm thick Good condition, very slight signs of age, scratches from use. Very little considering its age and material. The inner rim of the base is in good condition.
