"Thomire And Boizot - Pair Of Chenets With Lions - Louis XVI Period "
Exceptional pair of bronze andirons with double patinas representing a lion and a lioness, after the model created by Louis-Simon Boizot and Pierre-Philippe Thomire for the Salon des Jeux de la Reine at Versailles in 1786. These andirons date from the Louis XVI period, around 1780, and are adorned with garlands of flowers and draperies, as well as decorative motifs on the feet. Pine cones on each piece add an extra touch of elegance to these premium andirons. The neoclassical design of these andirons testifies to the excellence of the decorative art of the 18th century. The elaborate detailing and artistry of these andirons make them exceptional pieces of decorative art. The gilding and the bronze part of the andirons are original and in very good condition, with only a cleaning necessary to make them shine like the first day. These andirons are a pair of exceptional quality, which will appeal to lovers of 18th century decorative art. Feel free to add them to your collection or interior to add a touch of classic elegance. Note: A gilt bronze foot on an andiron is missing. It is an exceptional work that can be attributed to that of Pierre Philippe Thomire. Complete with their irons.
