ART NOUVEAU CERAMIC BAYEUX TAPESTRY VASE FRANCE CIRCA 1890-1900 Glazed ceramic vase decorated with the Bayeux tapestry (details), shown here Harold and a dragon, with very present colors and well-mastered enamels, part of a series of pieces all different and having appeal to the so-called Bayeux tapestry. Former director of the Choisy le Roi factory, Louis-Etienne Desmant was introduced to the Noron sandstone technique in the 1890s (14) and put his mastery into practice, particularly in pieces with flamed metallic reflections, using this decor. of the Bayeux tapestry, giving rise to art nouveau pieces, in which he was a major player.
