Description: Antique painting of a landscape with ruins.
Paolo Anesi (Rome 1697-1773) was born as a landscape painter and vedutista. Influenced by the Bamboccianti, he transformed the bizarre style of these seventeenth-century painters into a more Arcadian and eighteenth-century vision; in fact, many of his landscapes were bought by foreigners who loved the style of Canaletto and Zuccarelli.
Many of his works found favour with foreign collectors, particularly those who painted small and easily transportable paintings.
The painting in question is enclosed in a 20th century wooden frame.
