"Important Kachan Soof Carpet In Silk, Iran, 19th Century."
This is a rare and valuable Kachan SOOF carpet dating from the end of the 19th century, of Iranian origin. It is made of silk and is adorned with silver metallic thread to give a raised texture. The background is gold in color and is decorated with multicolored flowers. In the center is a bluish medallion, surrounded by four spandrels decorated with vegetal scrolls. The main border is gilt and surrounded by flower borders. The golden metal threads brocaded on the gold color give a relief texture to the rug, while the chains are in natural gold-colored silk.
