Although several works by the painter are known, Robert Coulombié remains unknown today, or almost... He presents paintings and works on paper at the Salon de l'Atelier in Bordeaux and other small salons in the south-west between 1931 and 1938. If the addresses given are in Bordeaux, it circulates between Périgord, the Bassin d'Arcachon and Lot-et-Garonne d' after the exhibits presented. There does not seem to be any local artistic relationship, except perhaps that of Eugène Forel, a great lover of watercolors and warm pastels.
Commune bordering Belvès, Saint Marcory is inhabited by only fifty souls. The small 12th century church that Coulombié illustrates is a small masterpiece of simplicity in Perigord Romanesque architecture. The apse of which the wall bell tower stands seeks to hide in the heart of the summer vegetation.
