Small clarification: ALL of our rugs and objects are FREE SHIPPING for France, Wallonia and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

This superb Kashan kork with floral decoration was knotted around 1970-1980, it measures 320 cm wide by 428 cm long and has a magnificent decoration of great finesse on a hand-knotted orange kork wool.
Kork wool is a high quality wool taken from the neck and under the belly of lambs in Iran.
Let's admire the elegant and wide border composed of flowers and large complex palmettes enhanced by two floral braids on a blue background. Normal wear covers the whole of this piece which gives it a very special charm.
The general condition is very good, there is no pile reduction, the edges are good, the fringes short and clean.
An exceptional rug that required thousands of hours of work.
The delicate colors blend wonderfully together, yellows, blues, and reds, greens, ivory ..... embellish this high quality carpet.
The delicate and precise work and arrangement can also make one think of a great Isfahan, but we are well ahead of a Kashan.
## Not being a fan of new carpets, the patina of such a carpet is what enchants me the most.
Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): large city in central Iran.
During the Persian Renaissance, in the 16th and 17th centuries, Kashan was the center of carpet production of legendary splendor.
Carpets with fine weaving, of a very great richness of composition, were knotted by the royal factory of the Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces visible throughout the world, in museums and private collections.
Craftsmanship was interrupted in Kashan between the invasion of the Afghans (1722) and the end of the 19th century, around 1870.
The revival of carpet production began with carpets that are distinguished by the superior quality of wool giving an extremely velvety appearance. These examples are called Kashan Motashemi, named after one of the most famous master weavers of the late 19th century.
The decorations are varied and offer meticulous craftsmanship: hunting scenes, subjects with figures inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant decor, trees of life, vision of earthly paradise.
Thanks to the superior quality of the wool (Kork wool, wool from the Iranian highlands, but also imported wool), their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and their extremely delicate designs. and great finesse, the Kashan took their place among the best Persian rugs
