Old & large orientalist bronze. Subject of a young Berber in a woolen coat. Sculpture by the artist Marius Joseph Sain (1877-1961). Gilt bronze proof. Native of Avignon, pupil of Antoine Injalbert and collaborator of Félix Charpentier, Marius Joseph Saïn made his debut at the Salon of the Society of French Artists in 1903. After his participation in the Salon of the Colonial Society in 1910, he received a scholarship which allowed him to go to Algeria then to Greece from where he draws models in an orientalist vein. At the Salon of 1911, he exhibited two plasters which were followed by bronze prints with vibrant patinas by Maison Jollet et Cie, entitled Aïn-Regada, young Arab shepherd and Aziza, young nomadic girl.
