"Precious Rocaille Frame, Exuberant Sculpture, Bagard, Nancy? Louis XIV Period"
Coming from an antique dealer's shed in our region, this monoxyle frame, from wild plum wood, is a small work of art, which time has unfortunately abused.Vertical framing, well structured by firm moldings and foliage, from which the sculptor has organized a detailed asymmetrical floral decoration with an inverted profile, falling roses and disheveled foliage.
School of Nancy, circa 1710, close to the works of César Bagard.
Condition is not good: the frame is no longer monoxyle: there are 3 gluings, parts of flowers have disappeared, and some gaps in this exuberance, see the red arrow photos.
Dimensions: 21cm x 14cm. Ideal frame to present a nice object, like that you see on some photos, but which is not sold there. Take a good look at our photos.....
