The shahsavans as well as the tribes like the gashghaïs attached a lot of importance to their horses and camels. This authentic horse blanket made in several parts is in djajim*. It was probably intended as a ceremonial cover for ceremonies such as weddings. It is rare to find nowadays these pieces that were part of the life of the nomads.
Note: a braid was placed all around the cover to preserve it.
*djajim: Djajims were made in most Iranian tribes. But we find the majority of djajims among the shahsavans. The weaving technique is different from that of the kilim. The warp is visible and defines the colors of the bands, unlike kilims where the design is defined by the weft. The djajim is made from long strips, 20 to 30 cm wide, cut and sewn together.
