"Portico Pendulum In White Marble And Gilt Bronze"
Portico clock in white marble and gilded bronze. It is composed of a base resting on four small pedestals in gilded and chiseled bronze. The base is decorated with a frieze representing winged putti having fun with garlands of flowers, framed on either side by sunflower flowers. It supports two columns whose base is a black marble base adorned with the head of a sunny jellyfish. It is surmounted by a white marble pilaster embellished with gilded and chiseled bronzes representing a lyre, a quiver and flowering branches tied with a ribbon. The pilaster is framed by two gilt bronze columns ending in spinning tops. These architectural elements highlight the dial in the center of the clock. The latter is enamelled and has the hour and minute numerals (respectively in Roman and Arabic) painted in black ink. It is set with a gilded bronze bezel decorated with a frieze of rows of pearls and palmettes. The dial supports a stylized ornamentation of flowering branches ending in bunches of grapes, a tied ribbon and a crown of flowers. Above the movement is a black marble base on which rests a flowered vase framed by griffin-headed handles. The balance wheel is composed of a stylized sun. The movement is signed Raffard in Paris.
