"Pendulum "urn" Empire Period Early XIXth"
Pendulum called "urn" in gilded bronze and black patina Empire period early 19th century. Top decorated with an armillary sphere and four finely chiseled gilt bronze pinecones. White enamel dial indicating the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals signed "Dautel rue de Thionville N°65" (Parisian watchmaker). The urn rests on a gilt bronze pedestal placed on a square base with double evolution ending in four small ball feet. Wire movement striking the hours and half-hours in working order (original enamelled dial, wire movement formerly replaced). Original mercury gilding in very good condition, black patina previously redone. This clock model is listed on page 378 in Pierres Kjellberg's encyclopedia of the French clock.
