"Remarkable Printed Cotton Shawl With Boteh Fleuries - Alsace Circa 1820"
Circa 1810-1830 France Beautiful scarf shawl in cotton printed on a wooden board with a brown chamois background, probably from an unidentified Alsatian factory and dating from the end of the First Empire or Restoration period. Eight-color print on fine, tightly woven cotton. Galleries with large stylized flowering boteh palms, seedlings of flowers and daisies. Two spandrels in opposite corners allowing the wearing of the pointed shawl. The four sides are finely hemmed and rolled by hand from the period. Large format Indian shawls are rare. A slight whitish trace of 6 cm, easily cleanable, otherwise no defect. Very good condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: 152cm x 144cm.
