Afghan wool rug, 1990. Good condition. Strong and durable mat.Located southwest of Kabul (eastern Afghanistan), the city of Ghazni is the capital of its province. The Ghaznavid Empire (962-1187) was ruled by the Mamluk dynasty. The Mamluks are members of an elite army, made up of freed slaves of Christian origin, in the service of various Muslim rulers.
Beautiful quality of wool for this ghazni whose pattern sees its inspiration in Iranian Hériz rugs. Note: traces of table legs (see photos) and lighter patina on part of the carpet.
