"Tas, Carving Prowess, Brass Basin, 19th Century Persia, Kadjar Period, Very Good Condition"
"Tâs" small basin, in chiseled brass on a black bituminous background, with a domed base and convex wall, with incised decorations and traces of inlays, a real feat of carving, from the Kadjar period, 19th century.
This "Tâs", originally from Persia, Iran, is from the middle of the 19th century.
Our model presents a decoration of nine medallions with decorations of animal hunting scenes and very ornate fantastic scenes, the whole of the rest of the body covered with friezes and interlacing.
The quality of the carving is remarkable as the decoration is fine and precise.
These containers, abundantly decorated with marvelous engravings, were the joy and the pride of the collections of the princes of that time and the happiness of collectors of Islamic art today.
Attention masterpiece of great beauty.
