French painter, of compositions with characters, typical subjects, figures, landscapes, still lifes, painter with gouache.
Student of Jules Lefebvre, Gustave Boulanger and Benjamin Constant, he made his debut in 1885 in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was named a member in 1898.
He received an honorable mention at the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. He then appeared at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts where he was a member of the jury.
In 1910 he appeared at the Brussels Exhibition. He exhibited for the last time in 1938. In 1932 he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
He painted subjects inspired by oriental life and its typical characters: Turkish Port - The Carpet Fitters. The enamelled tone of his still lifes reminds us of the work of Monticelli.
