"Octagonal Wall Clock In Painted Sheet Metal"
Octagonal wall clock in painted sheet metal with its key and pendulum in working order. The case hosts a dial simulating a pocket watch in white enamel with Roman numeral indexes, the outline is chiseled. The clock is decorated on these contours with a small and larger garland of golden foliage. The movement is monogrammed with a stamp of the watchmaker "Samuel Marti", a Swiss watchmaker. Samuel Marti 1811 - 1869, watchmaker of Swiss origin, settled in Montbéliard in the Doubs in 1830. He joined forces in 1832 with MM. Bouilloux and Mozer to manage a factory of clock movements and became the sole owner in 1841. He obtained the bronze medal at the National Exhibition of Products of French Industry in 1845.
