Model listed and photographed in the catalog “Fratin, Decorative Objects & Romantic Sculptures” by Michel Poletti and Alain Richarme, Galerie Univers du Bronze, Paris, 2000. Ref No. 29 p32 .
The Fratin sale catalogs list four vases with handles or panther heads, all modeled between 1856 and 1862. Fratin also treated a "Buire with monkey handles" and a "Buire with stork handle", produced by the founder Thiébaut et fils, comparable to this model.
