"Kashan Mortachem Rug In Wool, Iran, 19th Century."
This is a magnificent and exceptional Kashan carpet which comes from the renowned workshop of master Mortachem, an important Iranian weaver to the Shah at the end of the 19th century. This rug is made of extra fine quality kork wool, with cotton warps, weft and fringes. It has a density of around 9,000 to 9,500 knots per dm2. The field of this rug is ivory in color with stylized pastel tones forming a large medallion. This medallion is encrusted with a central midnight blue medallion, decorated with a bulb of flowers and spearheads in the shape of stylized diamonds. Dimensions: Length: 200 cm Width: 133 cm
