Superb Art Nouveau Terracotta Aristide De Raniéri "perfume" 67 Cm Perfect Condition

Exceptional Art Nouveau advertising terracotta for Perfume [PERFUME] - RANIERI (Aristide de) - "Perfume". Polychrome terracotta, sd (between June 1912 and 1914), dim. in mm: H. 665 x l. 170, representing a woman in a veiled dress, "Parfum" inscribed on the base, signed in hollow "a. de Ranieri", stamps "Fontaine et Durieux" and "Fabrication française" (Paris, L'Isle-Adam). Exceptional Art Nouveau advertising object in perfect condition. Aristide de Ranieri (1865-after 1929), sculptor and ceramist born in Italy. Coming from a family of Tuscan marble sculptors, he produced many works in the Art Nouveau style in bronze, spelter, biscuit, terracotta... Trained in the family workshop, he was sent to Paris by his father to open in 1893 a branch of the company "Angiolo De Ranieri e figli" (10 rue de Perceval, 14th). At the same time, he set up a sculpture and ceramics workshop where he created his own works in the Art Nouveau style. Faced with success, the production of ceramics became his main activity until the declaration of war in 1914. During the war, he lived on patriotic drawings published in Parisian magazines including La Baïonnette as well as caricatures distributed in the form of cards. postcards used as support for anti-German propaganda. He closed his workshop definitively after the end of the conflict and began a new career in academic statuary, mainly acting as an ornamentalist for war memorials or commemorative works. Member of the Society of French Artists, he appears regularly at the Salon (several of his works are reproduced in the Salon catalogs, from 1896 to 1905). He obtained a mention there in 1899 for The Guardian Angel. We lose track of him in 1929…
