All vermeil cutlery is hallmarked with a 2nd title neck brace (800/1000).
Note that the vermeil is faded in some places on the cutlery, especially on the spoons.
These goldsmith pieces were made by Louis Benoist working in Paris between 1828 and 1858.
The set is stored in a Napoleon III blackened wooden case decorated with brass marquetry and tortoiseshell. We note that a brass bar is not identical to the others probably following a restoration. We also note that at the level of this bar there is a small lack of wood veneer.
The inside of the box is stained in several places, and on the upper part there are a few small holes in the fabric and two tears. The box has a key and its lock is in perfect working order.
This is a very beautiful set.
French work from the mid-19th century.
