Georges Jules Moteley lived in Clécy and Omonville-la-Rogue. From 1890, he gained notoriety with his landscapes. He won a prize at the Jouvin d'Allainville competition, a mention at the Troyon competition, a gold medal at the Salon de Rouen. He sends his paintings to the Parisian Salons. Later, he won the gold medal at the Salon de Rouen. In 1892, Georges jules Moteley exhibited his Vieux Lavoir in Clécy, and obtained an honorable mention and the Brigard prize. This painting is acquired by the city of Caen. In 1894, he obtained a third medal then, in 1900, an honorable mention at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, and a second medal in 1902. His works are kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in Caen, at the Alfred-Canel Museum in Pont-Audemer, at the Dijon fine arts museum, at the Rouen fine arts museum, at the Baron Gérard museum in Bayeux, at the Thomas-Henry museum in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Un grain, La Hague), at the Château -Musée de Nemours and the Graphic Arts Department of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
