Raymond Grandjean, self-taught artist, was born in an environment far removed from artistic vocations. From working parents in the Lyon silk industry, he began working at the age of 14 for the PTT, where he delivered telegrams. Strolling the streets of Lyon, he discovers its forms and its mysteries, cultivating a dreamlike imagination.
"Art does not make the visible, it makes visible", willingly quoting Paul Klee, whom he discovered in 1948, Raymond Grandjean interprets the urban universe. Fascinating organization of space where the chromatic variations sublimate the simplicity of the landscapes, the beginning of the 1950s marking the abstract temptations which freed him towards a jubilant conception of colors and shapes.
