Large mirror in carved and gilded wood, Early Regency period, France, Early 18th century, Circa 1720, with shell decoration on the top flanked by winged phoenixes and chimeras, embellished with scrolls, foliages and flowers. The lower part decorated with Bérain frame with corners and shells. Original gilding, patina, mirrors and back. Beautiful and important mirror in rare original condition, with minimal usual restorations, including a restored leaf at the top left and chips of gilding in the center of the Top center shell. The sculpted repertoire of this mirror allows us to date it very early in the 18th century, at the transition between Louis XIV and Regence Period.
