Slnd [Berlin, Luxuspapierfabrik Sala, ca 1910], aus dem verlage der sala-spiele mit rotsiegel, N°4637. 3 missing pieces, slight rubbing at the edges of the cover, otherwise very good condition.
Box (273 x 230 mm) with lid titled in black and red illustrated with a chromolithograph representing a clown, containing 4 compartments comprising chromolithographed and die-cut cardboard boxes (12 bodies, 12 central parts of heads (eyes) , 12 upper parts (caps) and 9/12 lower parts (mouth and chin)). It therefore lacks 3 lower parts for the game to be complete. By combining these different parts as we wish, we can create multiple combinations of funny characters with oversized heads.
Rare.
“A. Sala was one of Berlin's most versatile luxury papermakers. The Sala games with the red seal, produced from 1908, were his special domain until the publishing house closed after 1970”. (Translation from German: C. Pieske in Die große Welt in kleinen Bildern, 1999, p. 129).
