Coffee Pot, Tournai 1760, Laurent Detombe, Sterling Silver, flag

Object description :

"Coffee Pot, Tournai 1760, Laurent Detombe, Sterling Silver,"
Extremely rare and sumptuous Louis XV period coffee maker in sterling  silver. It is hallmarked  with the marks of the city of Tournai for the year 1760 and the hallmark of the master goldsmith of Laurent Detombe. Hinge chain pin allows for easy cover removal. Its body and lid are entirely decorated with twisted ribbing and stand on three cast silver scroll feet. Its carved and blackened wooden handle is in good condition. As is often the case with goldsmiths from Tournai, the coffee pot is rather heavy for its size in comparison with goldsmiths from other towns in the Austrian Netherlands. It weighs a generous gram.
