"The Portefaix On Old Port Of Marseille"
large watercolor enhanced with ink representing porters and fishermen's wives on the quay of Riveneuve in Marseille, made before the war of 1914. We see the other quay (of the town hall), and in the background are offered to us the bell tower of Accoules as well as the hotel dieu. The technique is incisive, and tenderly insists on the popular characters in the foreground. Francois Galais left posters, but disappeared in the turmoil of the Great War.
