Superb carved flint ax from the Neolithic period (circa -10.000 BC) The flint is light gray color and partially covered with a layer of limestone (excavation patina)
The piece bears an old label inscribed in pen mentioning its origin of discovery: Boury, "Cul Froid" 60 (departement in North of Paris) and the date of 04.11.1979
This is BOURY EN VEXIN, an archaeological site well known, in particular for its lithic finds.

Very nice regular and symmetrical shape, no recent splinters, and very nice patina. To note some small of an old and yellowed protective varnish remainingd, & traces of limestone all on the ax
