Beautiful Cabriolet armchair from the Transition Louis XV / Louis XVI period - 18th century. The backrest is hectic, the armrests end in a whiplash, it rests on four fluted spindle legs. This armchair is by Pierre Malbet (Carpenter in seats), It is not signed, but was formerly part of a series of identical armchairs, some of which were signed, so we can attribute it with certainty to Pierre Malbet. Malbet Pierre - carpenter in seats - Master on November 18, 1765, went bankrupt in September 1773. He lived in rue de Charenton. Despite a brief career, he produced quite a number of Louis XV or Transition seats. Armchair typical of the Transition period close to the creations of Georges Jacob. Excellent condition, upholstery redone in the old style (horsehair). This beautiful armchair will ideally find its place in front of a desk or next to a flying living room table from the same period.
