Very young Philippe Mohlitz took an interest in drawing, as evidenced by one of his first public works (Alice, 1963), which reveals his formal skill. In 1965, he studied engraving at the evening classes of the city of Paris, under the aegis of Jean Delpech and received, in 1971, the Florence Gould prize.
From 1967, exhibitions follow one another everywhere in France and abroad Stuttgart, Brussels, New York, Tokyo, Madrid, Los Angeles, Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki...
The work of Philippe Mohlitz, recognized at the international scale, is mainly composed of engravings, but also includes sculptures and drawings. It is present in several museums or galleries in France, in the United States and in many private collections around the world.
In 2000 he was awarded the Grand Prize for Engraving by the Taylor Foundation The subjects of Mohlitz's engravings are very varied and are characterized by his finesse of execution which gives him an eminent place in the history of engraving where he often appears if not as the leader of the contemporary fantastic current, at least like the undeniable leader of the fantastic school of Paris.
