In 1965, he studied engraving at the evening classes of the city of Paris, under the aegis of Jean Delpech and received, in 1971, the Florence Gould prize.
From 1967, exhibitions follow one another everywhere in France and abroad Stuttgart, Brussels, New York, Tokyo, Madrid, Los Angeles, Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki...
The work of Philippe Mohlitz, recognized internationally, is mainly composed of engravings, but also includes sculptures and drawings. It is present in several museums or galleries in France, in the United States and in many private collections around the world. In 2000 he won the Grand Prize for engraving from the Taylor Foundation.
The subjects of Mohlitz engravings are very varied and are characterized by his finesse of execution which gives him an eminent place in the history of engraving where he often appears if not as the leader of the contemporary fantastic movement, at least as the one indisputable of the fantastic school of Paris.
