Priestly Cope Midnight Blue Velvet - 19th Century
A liturgical cope is a priestly garment worn during celebrations that take place outside Mass and even, during processions for example, outside the church. During Mass, the celebrant will be covered with a chasuble.
Our velvet Pluvial is deep blue surrounded by embroidery and silver braid. Centered on its magnificent hood, the monogram of Jesus is wrapped in embroidery and metal inserts with plant motifs.
Charcoal fabric lining. Made in the 19th century, this piece officiated and therefore knows a logical wear, mainly at the collar and at the level of the buttonhole which no longer allows the chain to be put in place.
I have always favored the memory of objects over their perfection. Especially for objects related to worship, because they are repositories of the good intentions of Prayer and Faith.
136 cm in height and 66 cm by 63 for the single hood.
