"Kabuto - Japanese Samurai Helmet, Edo Period (xixth)"
Discover this authentic Kabuto, a Japanese samurai helmet from the Edo period (19th century). Made from Tamahagane, a traditional Japanese alloy of steel and iron, this helmet is a real historical treasure. It is composed of 14 welded plates forming the entire helmet, surmounted by a Tehen no ana worked on four degrees with a golden alloy of brass or bronze and a Shikoro (the protection of the neck) made with 3 plates connected by a rope, offering specific mobility for the samurai. The helmet has a brown patina, contrasted by orange-yellow strings and gilt ornaments, probably brass or bronze. The Maedate (main ornament on the front of the helmet) represents a leaf terminated by three other leaves on a crown of flowers. the Mon (clan or family emblem) in the form of a flower with four petals on a hexagon. Marks of use attest that this helmet was really worn by a samurai and is not a simple decorative object.
