In polychrome terracotta, this rare trompe-l'oeil tobacco box represents the head of a young, smiling Nubian wearing a fez. The fez serves as a lid for this rare box. Production from the end of the 19th century around 1880 - 1900. Dimensions: Height: 15.5cm Diameter: 10.5cm x 10.5cm approximately Numbered under the base 310 by hand debossed in the still fresh material, number which corresponds to the numbering of the model at Bernard Bloch. Being an early edition, no BB mark or stamped numbering. Good condition. It is old and has stood the test of time. Some marks of age, slight chips, normal wear.
