Circa 1860 France Pair of 17th century wool damask curtains dating from the Second French Empire. Weaving with a wool and silk twill background in shades of Fuschia pink, brown and aubergine. Astonishing decoration with vegetal medallions inspired by the 17th century, representing large bouquets with stylized acanthus leaves and fleur-de-lys. Classic arrangement in ironwork cartridges influenced by the revival taste of Viollet-le-Duc, in vogue during the Second Empire. Very beautiful assorted trimmings sewn on three sides and brown glazed cotton chintz lining. Clean, no holes or dirt. Excellent state of color and conservation.
