Charles Guérin was born in Sens in 1875 and studied under Gustave Moreau, whose influence is palpable in the painting we are presenting.
He exhibited at the National, at the Indépendants and at the Salon d'Automne, of which he was one of the founders, and illustrated numerous works such as Les Fêtes Galantes or Romances sans paroles by Paul Verlaine.
