"Extremely Rare Karatchoff Carpet In Wool, From The 19th Century"
This is an exceptional Karatchoff carpet, very old of Caucasian origin, dating from the beginning of the 19th century, made of wool velvet on wool foundations. The carpet shows oxidation and natural wear that attest to its age. It is interesting to note the green and aubergine colors, typical of very old carpets from the 18th century and the first part of the 19th century. This type of Karatchoff is unusual and different from those usually offered on the market. Karatchoffs are very popular and have good results in the international market, especially in Great Britain, Germany, the United States and Austria. It comprises an emerald green field with double prayer mirhabs, inlaid with multiple symbols representing the ground, seeded with polychrome squares and adorned with two ivory medallions with hooks and geometrically stylized tarantulas surrounded by canes. The borders are triple, with a main ivory seeded with stylized hooks. Length: 225cm Width: 142cm
