"Patinated Terracotta Sculpture, "putti Playing On A Goat", After Boucher - 1900"
Terracotta subject with amber patina depicting two putti in the company of a goat. The first child is astride the animal, while the second is installed on a sheaf of wheat. The two toddlers with laughing faces and chubby bodies are represented naked, vines in their hair, and bunches of grapes in their hands. The long-haired caprine is lying on the ground. Surprisingly docile, he seems to put up with being the momentary attraction of this duo of pranksters. This rural scene rests on an oblong molded plinth. The work bears the inscription “after Boucher”, Alfred, French sculptor (1850 – 1934), first master of Camille Claudel and founder in Paris of “La Ruche”, a pavilion welcoming young artists. We will appreciate the realism of this sculpture, as well as the mixture of innocence and playfulness that emerges from its two protagonists. ******** Period: 1900 Additional photos available on the following link: https://www.antiquites-lecomte.com/boutique/elements-de-decoration/sculpture-en-terre-cuite-patinee-putti -playing-on-a-goat-after-butcher-1900 Shipping possible by Colissimo with careful packaging and appropriate protection Dimensions: Length: 43.5 cm Width: 22 cm Reference 220 T Height: 33 cm Weight: 6.9 kg
