"Ceramic Vase And Gilt Bronze - Late Nineteenth"
Baluster vase in Sèvres blue ceramic, with ovoid body, resting on a pedestal with annular base. Beautifully decorated in gilded bronze, this vase features cherubs in carriages, crowned with Napoleon III-style knots and garnished with plants, as well as torches intertwined with laurel wreaths. On one of the compositions, the child releases a bird from its cage to carry a message, while on the other, the bird arrives in front of the recipient to fulfill its mission. These two scenes are underlined by two scalloped belts shaped in brass. The neck is continuous and the mouth slightly flared. The lip and the base are also embellished with thick golden borders. This vase with its contrasting hue will appeal in particular for its poetic spirit. ******** Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition.
