"Dwarf Shisla Carpet In Wool, Iran, Shah Period"
This is a Nain Shisla carpet from Iran made of Kork wool and silk dating from the 1960s, from the Shah period. The velvet is silky lambswool, with flowers wrapped in silk on silk foundations. The density is around 10,000 knots per dm2. The field is ivory with foliage and garlands of fine stems with flowering palmettes framing a large central rosette with a diamond-shaped floral crown, in shades of pearl grey, ivory and midnight blue. The four spandrels are reminiscent of the three central medallions, with triple borders, the main one being beige with interlacing bulbs and stylized flower buds.
