"Paris 1819-38, Sterling Silver, Pair Of Snuffers, From The Charles X , Pierre-noël Blaquière"
Lovely and rather rare pair of sterling silver snuffers from the Restoration period. They are the work of Pierre-Noël Blaquière, goldsmith at rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, specializing among other things in travel kits. They are hallmarked with the head of an old bearded man, the French guarantee hallmark for sterling silver between 1819 and 1838. Unlike the examples dating from the eighteenth century which are often very sober, these are abundantly decorated with everything that the decorative register of the Restoration period conceals, a real pleasure for the eyes. Their weight is grams.
