Small Louis XVI Writing Table Stamped Nicolas Petit

Nicolas Petit (1732,1791) became master cabinetmaker on January 21, 1761.

Lovely coffee table forming a writing table in bottomless cube marquetry with three types of wood: rosewood, light wood and green-tinted wood; the frames are in rosewood.

Four sheathed feet inlaid with falls with plant motifs on a green background, joined together by a lower shelf also inlaid.

Beautiful gilt bronze ornamentation. Opening a drawer with compartments on the side belt and a retractable writing tablet on the front revealing burgundy leather decorated with a golden frieze.

Furniture stamped N.PETIT under the belt.

Superb piece from the famous and prestigious cabinetmaker.

Very good condition, after a visit to our workshop to restore it to its original superb condition with a beautiful natural buffered varnish.
