Jules Bertrand Gelibert (1834 -1916)
Jules Bertrand Gélibert , known as " Jules " , like his paternal grandfather , was a French sculptor and animal painter , born in Bagnères-de-Bigorre on November 27 , 1834 and died in Capbreton on April 18 , 1916 .
Passionate about hunting , he gradually specialized in this theme .
He was a pupil of his father , Jean - Pierre Paul Gélibert (1802-1882) , also a painter and animal sculptor .
Member of the Society of French Artists , he obtained a medal in 1869 and a second class medal in 1883 .
He also obtained a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and 1900 , and the title of Knight of the Legion .
He will produce several paintings on hunting , and in particular : " Hallali du cerf dans les mares de Belle Croix ", or " Hallali du chevreuil ", which were presented at the French Artists' Fair .
He will be laureate in several universal exhibitions in France and abroad .
He was also the founder of the " Hunting and Hunting Painters' Fair ".
