Hippolyte Moreau (1832 Dijon - 1926 Neuilly-sur-Seine) - from a family of artists, is one of three sculptor brothers - their father was the esteemed artist Jean-Baptiste-Louis-Joseph Moreau (1797- 1855). Hippolyte Moreau leaves Dijon for Paris, where he follows the courses of François Jouffroy at the School of Fine Arts. From 1863 to 1914, he exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in Paris. He won medals at the universal exhibitions of 1878 and 1900. Besides sculpture in various materials, he also designed everyday objects such as vases, paper knives and trays. A large number of his works are kept at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Dijon.
