John Frederick Tayler (1802 – 1889) was a 19th century English landscape watercolor painter, and President of the Royal Watercolor Society. In February 1831 Tayler was elected an associate member of the Royal Watercolor Society, and in June 1834 he became a full member. He contributed in all about five hundred drawings to society exhibits, about half of which appeared during Copley Fielding's presidency (1831 to 1855). A dozen of these were painted in collaboration with the young George Barret (d. 1842), and one, 'The Favourites,' with Thomas Miles Richardson On Fielding's death in 1855 Tayler, as a leading member of the committee of management, was vice-president for the year, and relieved of the duties of president during the eight-month interregnum which, out of respect to Fielding's memory, was allowed to pass before the election of his successor. In his official capacity Tayler became a member of the fine arts committee for the Paris World's Fair of 1855. In February 1858 Lewis resigned from office, and Tayler was unanimously elected president. He filled this position for over twelve years, and retired in June 1871. He continued to send drawings to society exhibitions until the time of his death. His drawings and sketches were sold at Christie's on February 15, 1890.

Léo Schildof (1886-1966) was an Austrian Art Dealer, Art Expert and collector. He created an auction house in Vienna and Paris (1919-1928). He was particularly sensitive to miniature paintings, in this field he became one of the greatest experts and subsequently presented a large 4-volume encyclopedia of European decorative paintings from the 16th to the 19th century, since 1946 he lived in London.
