Rare Tchi-tchi dated 1342 above the niche, date corresponding to 1924.
This piece measures 142 cm wide by 193 cm long and is in very good condition for its age.
Some old restorations visible, for a relatively rare to very rare carpet on the market.
The colors and designs of the Tchi-tchi are characteristic, the secondary borders are decorated with eight-pointed stars, "stars of Solomon", and small sticks placed diagonally, the field is always filled with very tight patterns, an abundance of forms but without attacking the eye for a dense knotting. The colors are soft, curry yellow, red, brown on a dark blue background.
Trees of life, stylized bustards, a large bird native to the plains of the Caucasus, Central Asia and Persia, carnation flowers, stars of Medes, cover this superb artefact.
This type of carpet is knotted by the Chechen tribes, sedentary or still nomadic, as well as the Ingush.
These populations were deported en masse by Stalin to Central Asia during the Second World War, because they were suspected of being pro-German.
They did not return to their country until 1957.
This superb testimony to the great periods of the Caucasus is dated 1924, tied in a cartouche, accompanied by a heart and a signature, which I unfortunately cannot translate.
Velvet in very good condition with old restorations, uneven fringes, restored edges, in perfect condition.
This beautiful piece will be proud of its 100 years of age in one year, it is a magnificent Chechen carpet of collection originating from the Caucasus. Dimensions: Width: 142cm (56") x 193cm (78")
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
